On-line retailer Amazon has launched "Frustration Free" packaging. The new packaging eliminates the hard plastic encasements called “clamshells” as well as the plastic wire ties that secure the product to the box, both which are environmentally unfriendly and have to be cut with scissors. Packages are now simple sent in a recyclable card board box. Here is the currently selection of items you can get at Amazon with Frustration-Free packaging.
In the introduction to the Oscars last night David Rockwell of the Rockwell Group discussed his inspiration and design process for the set design of the Oscars. I loved how he combined Michelangelo's Piazza del Campidoglio tile work with the Swarovski Crystal drapery. It was great to see some behind the scenes and get a look into David Rockwell's creative process.
I have made the move from Manhattan to Fort Greene Brooklyn and I am loving it! So much more my speed than "dreary old Manhattan". No just kidding. I still love the city, but am liking the groove of my new neighborhood. There are so many great small businesses, restaurants, shops etc and I am just dying to do some work for them. I think the New York Times has done a great job of branding itself. Most companies when they are designing their logo's don't realize what an asset their branding can be to their businesses and how expandable it can be. New York Times is a perfect example of well executed branding.You can see the new signage for their Times Square building here and how their logo has become so recognizable that they can just use the "T" for the New York Times magazine logo.

I came across this Ronny Brook Milk packaging at a local store. The vintage style glass and simple branding definitely set it a part from its competitors.
I have been seeing these cool posters around New York for the Grammy Awards. I really like the play with the type...and again with the rainbows. Too many gray winter days maybe. Not sure which agency did them...anyone know?
