AOL now (Aol.) has recently launched this re-branded look. The timing of the re-branding is being heavily criticized as AOL incurred heavy lay-offs as it split from parent company Time Warner earlier this December. The company is obviously striving to create a more dynamic image (I mean who do you know besides your parents or grandparents that still use their service). Design agency Wolff Olins created the new identity. While the new look is more approachable it seems a bit generic to me. Also who is going to be able to reign in all of the marketing managers as they attempt to apply the new logo to what looks like just about any type of imagery. Hmmmm....curious to hear your thoughts....

Not - they need to do a lot more than improve their image.
I actually read it as AoI. Whoops.
Hate the typography!
