Brad Pitt Architecture New Orleans

I read about this in the New York Times on Sunday and was impressed. Bradd Pitt commissioned 13 architecture firms to design houses for the re-developement in New Orleans. The project is called Make It Right and focuses on designing and building affordable, environmentally sound housing for the 9th Ward in New Orleans which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The architects were each asked to design a 1,200-square-foot house for a budget of $150,000 and the houses had to be built five to eight feet off the ground to allow for future flooding. Pictured here are some of the proposed designs for the project.

Excellent project. I'm very proud of the Dutch firm MVRDV who also done some great designs for MIR.
